This is my first finished build of 2020! It’s the commissioned build of the Full Mechanics Gundam Vidar from Iron Blooded Orphans. The client wanted something similar to the Vidar built by Adamantium Works. I actually totally underestimated the amount of work this kit needed, there are even more seamlines than I thought:
- Side Skirts
- Feet
- Leg Armour
- Forearm Armour
The feet were pretty annoying to fix as the blade had to be painted and masked off first before sealing the seam in the foot. There was a funky non-symmetrical seamline on the legs, I chose to duplicate this on the other side of the part which I got MildCustoms to help me scribe.
This was also my first time attempting a reverse wash using an airbrush. I’ve been kinda hesitant over the years about spraying enamels through my airbrush, but now that I’ve got a few old spares I finally gave it a try for the various recessed parts on the body. It turned out surprisingly well and cleanup was much easier compared to handpainting.
Black – Mr Color GX Black (100%). Mr Color GX Cool White is added for shading effect.
Dark Grey – Mr Color GX Ueno Black (90%) + Neutral Grey (10%). Mr Color GX Ueno Black (70%) + Neutral Grey (30%) used for highlights
Blue – Gaianotes Cobalt Blue (95%) + Mr Color Flourescent Pink (5%). White is added for shading effect.
White – Mr Color Grey FS(?) (100%) base coat. Mr Color GX Cool White painted over highlights.
Red – Mr Color Shine Red (100%)
Internals – Combination of Gaianotes Gunmetal, SMS Stainless Steel over EX Black
Feet blades/thrusters – Gaianotes EX Black base coat, followed by SMS Stainless Steel
